Far from being rivals, pop icons Tiffany & Debbie Gibson unite in Singapore for an once-in-a-lifetime concert this 8 Sep 2018 (Sat), 8pm at The Star Theatre!
The SMASH HITS Concert brings together a rare union of 2 legendary pop princesses, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. Iconic in their own terms, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson were the essential idols of the 80s and early 90s, topping charts globally with their singalong smash hits.
Tiffany, created a huge debut at 16, when her single “I Think We’re Alone Now” became a teen anthem, reaching Number 1 on the Pop Singles Chart and her self-titled album reached the peak, selling over 4 million copies. The subsequent ballad single “Could’ve Been” rose to the top, and the memorable follow-ups, “I Saw Him Standing There”, “Radio Romance” and “All This Time” all hit the Top 10. Tiffany set a record at the time for being the youngest female artiste to top the Billboard Charts with a debut album. Her second album “Hold An Old Friend’s Hand” sold Platinum and became a firm fan favourite. A later love song, “If Love Is Blind” became a big hit around Asia. Tiffany was also the voice of Judy Jetson on the movie The Jetsons, and contributed 3 songs to the soundtrack, including the popular “I’d Always Thought I’d See You Again”.
Debbie Gibson, became a worldwide sensation when her high energy pop singles “Only In My Dreams”, “Shake Your Love” and “Out Of The Blue” all went Top 5 on the Billboard charts when she was just 17. Her first #1 single, the poignant ballad “Foolish Beat”, made her the youngest artiste ever to write, produce and perform a #1 song. The album “Out Of The Blue”, went Triple Platinum, and paved the way for her next best-seller, “Electric Youth”, which spawned the title hit, and the mega smash “Lost In Your Eyes”, “We Could Be Together” and “No More Rhyme”. Debbie Gibson is the sole songwriter for all her hits that made the Top 20, and was recognized as Songwriter of the Year in 1989, alongside legend Bruce Springsteen. She was also nominated for Best Pop Vocal at the American Music Awards, and won 5 New York Music Awards.
