TAEYANG, the lead singer of Big Bang is best known for his soulful voice. In 2008, Taeyang broke out as a solo artist with the EP, Hot, which won Best R&B & Soul Album at the 6th Korean Music Awards.
Since then, TAEYANG began to compose songs and write lyrics. His digital single, “Wedding Dress” has occupied the #1 and #2 spots respectively on the Canadian and US iTunes R&B/Soul album chart, a first for an Asian artist. This led him to release his debut solo album <SOLAR> in 2010. In that same year, he went on to win Best Male Artist award at the 2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Both the regular and the deluxe versions of <SOLAR> peaked at #1 position on the Gaon Album Chart. Three years later, Taeyang released a powerful single “Ringa Linga” which drew attention to his signature and soulful voice, dance steps, as well as his hip-hop swag.
His second solo album <RISE> was released in 2014. The single “Eyes, Nose, Lips” was such a hit that various celebrities covered it, including label-mates Akdong Musician, Tablo, Lydia Paek as well as Korean singer Eric Nam and Canadian pop star Michael Bublé. He then embarked on a World Tour in support of the album. At the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Taeyang won Best Male Artist, Song of the Year for “Eyes, Nose, Lips” and Best Vocal Performance. “Eyes, Nose, Lips” has also won him numerous music awards and brought him to greater heights in his music career.
With the release of his 3rd solo album <WHITE NIGHT> in 2017, Taeyang is back with his 2nd World Tour to meet his fans from all over the world. TAEYANG 2017 WORLD TOUR <WHITE NIGHT> kicked off with a total of six shows Japan and Seoul in July, followed by a tour in North America. Taeyang is now on tour around Asia including Manila, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Macao, Singapore and Taipei.
<WHITE NIGHT> has topped iTunes’ charts in 23 countries including France, Mexico, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Finland, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Macao, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines, Thailand, the Bahamas, Turkey, and Vietnam as well as U.S. The two singles “Darling” and “Wake Me Up,” have both received impressive responses.
